Sorry to hear about your equipment problems.

Speaking of dark clouds following people around, I was minding my business on Sunday afternoon, just recuperating from surgery, when I got a call from my bank saying they had noticed suspicious activity on my ATM card. Someone had used it to withdraw 800 bucks from my account at an ATM, then had made a purchase with it, all within two hours, starting at four in the morning.

They asked if I had made the withdrawals and the purchase. I hadn't, I told them, as I was in bed recovering from having part of a lung removed. They asked a bunch of questions about whether the card had been out of my possession (it hasn't) and how the thieves could have gotten my PIN (I haven't the foggiest idea). They also wanted to know if I had reported the theft to the police. I told them that since they themselves had just informed me of the crime, I hadn't yet notified the police.

It reminded me of the time, last year, when I was driving myself across town to have a chemotherapy infusion, and I got rear-ended.

It's pretty funny, really.
