but have you noticed that since telecom deregulation most of the big regionals split out from Ma Bell have merged, and really in many ways we are almost back to where we started... I have. And it ain't perfect. Big industry tends to gravitate toward bigness. But we had a period in between swings where there was a lot of energy in the business and we would NEVER have had the innovation we have had without it. Ma Bell was nothing if not stodgy. I don't really care about re-consolidation as long as there is still meaningful competition and innovation. PS - Just look at your cable bill... <ggg> Indeed, that's nothing to grin about. But that's what lack of competition does. Regulation/deregulation is only one aspect. Comcast is the new Bell, at least where I live. I have no choice.
