- MacKay Lake/Back Lake Projects
Albert W. Applegath, President of Kalahari Resources Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to announce the following has been received from our joint venture partner, SouthernEra Resources Limited. Geophysical Program to Begin at Back Lake A six month geophysical crew will be on the ice of Munn Lake this Sunday, November 2, 1997. An area opposite the Yuri diamond discovery (7 diamonds were recovered from a surface pit with the largest being .12 ct. ) will be covered. 1.2 miles x 1.2 miles will be tested by three (3) geophysical instruments (VLF, horizontal loop and mag)using a 25 foot centred grid. This program, weather permitting, is expected to take ten (10) days with results correlated daily. New sediment sampling of the lake bottom for indicator minerals will also be part of this program. A winterized camp is in place in the discovery area as are the drill and supplies. It should be noted that the indicator mineral train leading to the Yuri discovery had a 37% G-10 content. One thousand seven hundred (1,700) indicator mineral samples, taken over the summer, are now being processed in four labs. One thousand five hundred and ninety (1,590) pounds of samples from 8 pits at the Yuri discovery are going through a desliming, then caustic dissolution, before being picked for diamonds. An extensive geophysical program (land and ice)combined with indicator mineral results could lead to large drill programs in other areas of the projects in February-May 1998. Currently, there are six (6) indicator mineral trains in the southwest corner of the Back Lake project and five (5) trains in the south-east corner of the MacKay Lake project to follow up to their respective sources. The mineral chemistry in these trains in quantity, quality and composition is some of the best found to date in the N.W.T. diamond play.
