Both sides of this planning ignore the tribal and drug problem. The Pashtun tribes in the South ARE the Taliban. They are Deobandi Muslims, same outlook as the Saudi Wahhabi ones. And they control the drug trade.

Arm and pay off the friendly tribes against the fundamentalist ones. Buy up the Heroin and sell it to our Drug companies. Kill Al Qaeda types where ever we find them.

Will we do this? Never.
