Guys,
This is not about white and black.
It's about wealth, power, influence etc....
Most of the upper middle class is white. So any policies that attempt to transfer wealth from the top down come out as white vs. black or white vs. Hispanic politically, but the color of their skin has little or nothing to do with it. It's about wanting to protect the fruits of your labor, the freedom to control your own economic destiny, and the freedom to give back to society when you want, to who you want, and for what you want.
Right now we have a very small percentage of the people making economic, social, and foreign policy. Though many of them are right wingers, the list of left wing rich and influential people is also gigantic (Buffett, Gates, Soros, all of Hollywood, more than half of Wall St. etc...)
That small group of ultra wealthy and powerful people are using government to advance their own agendas, be it personal gain, foreign policy gain, or imposing their values on everyone else. They are an incredibly arrogant and sometimes evil lot.
That is not the democracy that was intended by the founders or the democracy I want to live in. It's a recipe for conflict and unhappiness. The founders intended personal freedom and liberty - which does not preclude "voluntary" socialization of activities and risks.
The founders weren't as smart as we give them credit for. They didn't create a constitution that was strong enough to keep government at bay so that all these wealthy and powerful individuals couldn't use it to rape and pillage us at home, make us hated abroad, and destroy our economy with paper money and promises that can't be kept etc... |
