Just to simplify, if there are 100 NOS users, 60 to 65 of these are using NetWare. Now, if NetWare is maintaining its market share, then you expect that some of the existing users (60% - 65%) will be upgrading. Clearly, the ratio of upgrades/new sales is greater for NetWare than that of NT. However, this doesn't disguise a quickly-eroding 'new sale' market share, except of you have some actual numbers (sales) to support your statement.

One additional remark, number of servers does not tell you much. One server may have 2 to (say) 100 users, take your pick. The only true indication of how well one product is doing relative to another is total sales, period.
