Figure futures point on the S&P 500 Contract on the Globex as a percentage of the previous close on the S&P 500 Average itself. So a negative 1000 last night(actually a "10" since the decimal point does not show on the Globex) on the S&P 500 Futures Contract was worth about a 1- 1.1% downward move on the Dow at the open or 80-85 points move on the Dow....
