It is impossible to practice emergency room medicine and not get sued. Everybody got sued. A day without a lawsuit was a good day.

The OB who delivered my oldest daughter at George Washington University Hospital in DC is an example. He was called to the ER one time to tend to a woman who had suddenly appeared in the ER. She had had no prenatal care. Zip. Nada. He delivered the baby but there was a problem with the kid. I forget what it was, but totally unrelated to the actions of the doc. He was sued, as was anyone else who was involved. It was a helluva thing for him to go through just for being there and competently and professionally doing his job.

Anyone wants to reform the insurance industry should start with tort reform. Of course, the trial lawyers are some of the biggest benefactors to the Dems, so forget that.
