I'll reiterate again - to my single-digit-year-old children, the iPhone is no more high tech than the microwave. There is absolutely no doubt on this issue. Ditto for the AppleTV.

One can choose to view this as a pejorative "trivialized", I choose to view it as a positive "cheap disposable stuff for the masses". The mass market doesn't do high tech until the high tech is subsumed by gadgetization. If the iPhone wasn't a gadget, it would be selling at one-tenth the rate it's selling it.

This doesn't mean a great deal of effort didn't go into making or designing the thing - of course it did. Gadgets are people, too. :)
