Thanks Jim, that was pretty much my take on the cost/pricing situaution.

As to low cost PC's, I have a somewhat different view. I think that demand will be heavy, but it will canibalize sales from their mid-range machines.

On the China front it seems that Clinton is hanging tough. He got a concession from China regarding their nuclear deals with Iran, and in addition China will "... acceed to the terms of the Information Technology Agreement signed last winter, which will eliminate China's steep tariff's on imported computer and telecommunications equipment." according to today's New York Times. In addition, "American companies will be given access to Chinese markets to build cleaner power plants, more efficient cars and rural power stations."
