I think a lot of people would be willing to properly fund Medicare if they realized that they may very well be otherwise confronted with their mother-in-law's cancer diagnosis, or may themselves be forced to ingratiate themselves with their son-in- law or die destitute. Likewise, many offspring would find their inheritances going to pay for their beloved parent's last month in ICU. Same deal with Social Security. It keeps my parents independent. Good thing- Bill Gates can't afford a house big enough for both of them.
