REmember when we were talking about the NJ school video that had school children singing a song of praise to Obama, and that I found it objectionable? You made the excellent point that it was not some sort of federal or state mandate, but a visiting author who led the class in what the admin. is saying was an activity it hadn't approved.
Last night Hannity was showing the clip, and this morning Glenn Beck is on a tirade (I thought I turned on our classical FM station but it turned out to be AM- hence Beck) about a second school, this one is SC I think, that apparently sang a praise song to Obama.
There is an AntiCHrist mood about this, mixed with of course, the youth indoctrination accusation- lots of terms like "The One" being used.
Anyway, I looked up schools in the US and there were 106,746 K-12 in 2008, serving over 55 million students.
Two classes in two schools apparently had a teacher or guest who made the ill-advised decision to do this.
Why is this any different than the occasional preacher who blatantly prays for Obama's death and is quickly set apart from the norm? He isn't representative of anything but himself, though his words may affect a congregation, which seems to me to be what has happened in these schools.
But my, the reaction is extreme. I find it very discouraging. A moderate is helpless in the face of what is happening. It's not in a moderate's nature to picket, shout, argue, which leaves the extremists in charge of the party, and that's a shame. |
