Sovran Self Storage Announces Launch of a Public Offering of Common Stock

BUFFALO, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sovran Self Storage, Inc. (the "Company"), (NYSE:SSS), a self-storage real estate investment trust (REIT), announced today that it has commenced a public offering of 3,000,000 shares of common stock. The underwriters will be granted a 30-day option to purchase up to 450,000 additional shares of common stock to cover overallotments, if any.
The Company intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to repay a portion of the Company’s unsecured indebtedness and to terminate one or more interest rate swaps relating to the debt to be repaid. The Company intends to use the remaining proceeds, if any, for general business purposes.
BofA Merrill Lynch is acting as sole book-running manager for the offering.
The shares of common stock to be issued pursuant to this offering will be made pursuant to a prospectus supplement to the Company’s prospectus dated November 28, 2006, filed as part of the Company’s effective shelf registration statement relating to these securities.
