"Look at the complete wacko's on TV these days. Wowa."

TV is addictive and mind numbing. I stopped my tv service over a year ago and don't intend to have it turned back on. The barrage of lunacy with an agenda was unacceptable. I don't miss it at all. I can choose an occasional video from the library and peruse news on the internet to satisfy my media appetite.

I have a second generation kid at home (12 yrs), who I am raising as a single parent. She is unbelievably good natured, and I couldn't be happier about being a parent right now because she is such a joy. The kids at school remark to her about being the most polite person they know. However, in general kids are not healthy or confident. Broken homes are more common than not, leaving kids to grow up feeling at risk. Societal changes have left kids feeling less secure about cultural values. I see an attitude/fear of impending catastrophe and hopelessness that wasn't common in previous generations.
