You have really adopted liberalism writ large, eh? Defending the weak and all that? Great values for an individual. But you fail to rationalize how it is justified as social policy which means force--and which means denouncing individual values. Only individuals live. Only individuals have choices to make as to what they value. Social "caring" is not CARING. It is forcing people to contribute to a group bias which might be rational and might be good--or might be irrational and might be very bad. It might support churches or it might burn them. It might just burn some of them. It might defend the weak or it might make them Nazi Youth...to defend the "RIGHT". Just as democracy, per se, has no basis other than brute "dominant group self interest" on which to judge or plan...existentialism, per se, has no basis on which to inform social policy--or anything beyond the individual. So we have these two null sets trying to plot a course for humankind: One saying that only the individual exists--and the other saying that the individual doesn't count. And both either misunderstanding or lying about what they stand for. All individuals must find an individual philosophy and raison d'etre which allows them to steer through it all from cradle to coffin. And without going any farther I will say it bluntly: Every individual must put his/her own thinking/values/beliefs ABOVE the State. If you cannot rise above "Liberalism", "Conservatism", "Republicanism", or even "Taoism"...then you have never truly existed: Your mind was never yours; your body was never yours. Unless you turn your back on EVERYONE you can never have a truly honest opinion. The ONLY opinion that matters in this world is YOURS--not Woodrow Wilson's.
