I think probably 80% of the country fervently wishes for that!

(Though the 20% of ultra partisans definitely disagrees. They prefer the never-ending 'culture wars' and like such, pitting the extremes against each other in blood sport, painting everything in stark terms of black and white, with no room for middle positions.)

One structural change we could get behind would be to enact bans on Gerrymandering... because that is what pushes the entire country into starkly opposing political camps where only the most extreme can win elections.
