So... HALF by pure grades, and HALF by pure writing competition (voted by their fellow eighty-odd editors).

Sounds pretty open and fair to me.

(Bet you'd have to be a really good writer to win a vote like that... from eighty of some of the sharpest young 'legal beagles' around.)

And not a LEGACY in sight. :-)
