Michael,

Read your post the first time through. I agree with what you said and I was lucky to have bought in at 65 and then 51 pre-split in Nov. 1995 and Jan. 1996. The latter was about the only time I ever market-timed correctly. I don't think we are at the equivalent of Jan. 1996 yet. That downturn happened around the time AMD collapsed with the K5 and thus set the stage for a wildly successful year in which INTC did not need to reduce prices much and everyone upgraded their 486 computers to take advantage of Windows 95.

Let's draw an obvious parallel:

1. The K6 becomes uncompetitive due to AMD's manufacturing ineptitude.

2. Windows 98 requires 64MB of memory and a 5GB HDD, and has features everybody wants. People think they need a top of the line PII to complement the top-of-the-line OS.

3. People/companies with a P166 or less system decide to upgrade.

Could happen and in fact, I'm betting on it. Won't see a turn-around in the stock until the market thinks this way (probably in 2H98).

Richard
