What I find hard to understand is people not seeing the obvious. Public option is not about monopoly busting or competition. It is about a gradual takeover. They want competition? Why not allow citizens to buy in into Medicare. It exists in every corner of the nation. Why not use it as an alternative to private choices? Who knows, maybe this would even keep Medicare from going broke... maybe it would all work out well.

There are plenty of ideas which might work. But - all this is not so much about healthcare as it is about power and politics.
