That looks like fun. It would be a great first flight for the kids.

No doubt for many kids in Juneau, that is the case. Almost all of them have flown, because that's the only way to get anyplace, except by boat.

Kids in Juneau have seen bears, but most of them have never seen a cow.

Milk comes in on jets too.

Actually, coming in to Sitka is scarier for me. The airport is built on rock fill out on the edge of the water. There's no give at either end of the runway, as it's barely long enough.

One time we were coming in and a big gust of wind caused the plane to lurch over sideways. I was looking down at the water about fifty feet below, and I knew a foot too low would wipe us out. But the pilot did a good job and we landed normally.

Alaska Airlines has excellent pilots because they fly in some of the most challenging environments in the business. The only wreck I know of was near Juneau many years ago when they were coming in on the wrong signal and flew into a mountain. That was before GPS and it really wasn't their fault.
