Now would be a good time for HSBC to buy good assets at good prices, all over the world.

The opportunity in China is immense, it would still be useful to have assets that are not a tightly correlated with China's economy.

They should buy a precious metal or commodity exchange.

Since Standard and Chartered is all over Africa, maybe HSBC could look to South America.

Maybe they are waiting to pick up parts of Citibank.
