Why do you keep trying to measure the amount of what you think a jury award for wrongful death should be, by your estimate of their value to society, when society isn't compensated.

Economic damages are losses of personal or family income. In a wrongful death suit the family would be compensated for the loss of income. That's actual damages, not a measure of intrinsic worth. Its similar to how the fact that a guy with a Ferrari would get more compensation when you destroy his car, then the guy with the beat up old Ford in the same situation. Neither is, or should be, a measure of human worth.
