There are things other than temperature that affect tree growth ... thats one problem. But at bottom none of the stuff you've posted addresses the cherry-picking issue - why did Briffa use a handful of trees when there were other studies with many more trees? Funny that when one does that they hockey stick just disappeared. Hmm.
