Jim, all the things you say are true, although I'm a bit fuzzy over your assertion that they are being denied. Care to explain that part?

As an aside, in my pursuit to better understand green building philosophy it's come to my attention that analogous conditions exist related to the proximity of a site and the sourcing of its materials, which can also impact on a builder's ability to receive LEED certifications bit.ly , hence tax credits, insurance premium treatment, employability, etc. It leads one to musings such as: Sprawl is ok, provided that supply chains also sprawl, preferably in the same direction as development, too.
