I like birthdays and sort of relish getting old, although I could do without the aches and pains.

The only thing about getting old that is objectionable to me is that I am grumpy more often, especially when overloaded with chores and things my wife asks me to do. I didn't used to be grumpy.

I also don't suffer fools gladly anymore. Especially on politics.

I've taken the view that if I don't stand up for myself, nobody else is going to.
