Nortel in talks to sell Ethernet unit to Ciena
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Nortel Networks Corp. and Ciena Corp. said Monday they are in advanced talks on the sale of Nortel's optical networking and carrier Ethernet businesses worldwide. "The outcome of these discussions is uncertain and subject to negotiation of definitive agreements," Nortel said in a statement. Any agreement must be approved by U.S. and Canadian bankruptcy courts.
