I recall the daily capacity for the NYSE being 1.5 billion shares. It's possible that's just what they are currently building toward. That is my understanding. I believe the volume on Tuesday was more than they really could handle. Confirmation reports on market orders were very slow to return among other problems. The factors behind this can be various but the entire computer network for trading was running behind. Glenn
