Charles K. Kao is ethnic Chinese but an American and UK citizen. en.wikipedia.org Americans gladly accept all ethnicities and are proud of it. In fact almost all Americans are immigrants if you go back just a few generations. It's an advantage they have over most other countries, especially ones that view foreigners with suspicion and call them dirty names.
