As DAK said, in science we update information as it comes in. In religion they do not update their opinions as their script is the word of god and needs no updating, I assume. I always wonder about those parts of the bible where god allows a person to sell his sister, or orders a person to kill his kid. Old testement. But I am sure you have explanations for that type of thinking.
