Here is the thesis of the whole god debate, IMO.

None of it makes any sense at all. The only reason we are even still discussing this very implausible story, with no facts, or logic, is that the vast majority of the human primates on earth cannot give up whatever primitive belief system their culture gave them.

When science started showing us all the factual errors in the bible most of the christian religions turned to an allegorical interpretation of the bible, instead of a literal one. Impossible to defend a literal interpretation of the bible.

It was their only out! How do they explain the bible allowing for slavery.

Some still hold on to the literal interpretation, but never discuss "the brother giving the sister into slavery parts", or other inconvenient truths.

It is actually this phenomenon we should be discussing i.e. why are we even debating this issue in the face of such overwhelming scientific facts?

The facts are so clear cut.

What is it about the human brain that it cannot extract itself from beliefs that make no sense at all.
