We can see the range of people types by how they spread themselves out. <We are social animals, Mq. A minority prefer "the wide open spaces." I like concrete and asphalt. The only earth I want between my toes is beach sand. I like to be around people. >

Indeed, most people like a good crowd, a stadium full of people is fun [for a while], a riot even more exciting, a bunch of marching, singing, saluting at a Nuremberg rally positively exhilarating.

But some of us like a quieter, more benign life, like an orangutan rather than a noisy aggressive bunch of chimpanzees, or the crowded eroticism of bonobos.

It has always impressed me how much wide open space is left untouched because people far prefer to crowd together and it's not just for economies of scale.

From your description of your preferences, Honolulu looks about right for you.
