What does "conservative" mean anymore???

I believe I've seen some "so-called" conservative Senators and Congressmen spending money on defense expenditures that our Pentagon doesn't even WANT. To me that's just Pork and Welfare for their own States or Districts. Sounds pretty liberal.

Conservative used to mean you tried to "conserve taxpayer money", but today it seems to mean you don't like abortion or gays but you like guns.
