It should never ever come to this.
How could Intel be so stupid as to allow some vapid outsider to announce what the quarterly results are going to be.
As an example, presumably with guidance from intel 4Q earnings estimates average .92 from 31 analysts (with median at .90). These are numbers that Intel know they can make.
No matter what happens, Intel should deliver these numbers:
Revenue 6250M Net 1687M Margin 26.9% Shares 1790M Eps .94
Intel Exceeds estimates.
Any idiot can deliver these numbers. If for some unforseen reason(s), sales are higher or lower, (you save or borrow something from the next quarter) and you spin it to analysts so they can adjust their estimates for the next quarter. You do all this within absolute legal limits.
If for some unforeseen reason(s), sales are significantly higher or lower, you immediately prewarn.
You do not allow analysts to make this announcement.
Intel is brilliant in engineering, manufacturing, strategic planning, et al, but when it comes to IR, they are almost idiotic.
