Paul and others,
i was just in computer city today and got a demo of a videophone call. They had a P-II 266 compaq presario with an Intel videophone system. For the demo you actually called Intel in boulder, colorado and had a videophone discussion with an intel representative. I was impressed.

The rep also sent snap shots that had been "morphed" using Kai photosoap. they were humorous but i was more impressed with the speed in which she could send the snap shots. And when i say speed, i do not mean the transmission time, I mean the time it took her to use the Intel videophone in different applications. She virtually said, i'm going to send you a snap shot and in about a second it was there. It must be very easy to use.

she made two comments i would like your feedback on. First, "the intel video phone system works best with the P-II processor since it can process the video data faster than other processors." Is this true? Is the video signal processing more of a bottle neck than the modem speed?

Second, she said "every P-II system comes with the video phone built in." I assumed she meant every Compaq Presario P-II, but she said every P-II system. Have you heard of this PC mfr "perk?"

There was no more delay in this technology than I have experienced in full blown tele-video conference equipment. Even though the video pics were small, i was impressed, and all for the cost of a regular phone call.

TIA,
steve h
