Natural Gas Exploration and "Hydrofacing" Under New York City's Drinking Water Supply

Some news out this morning on this subject, accompanied by a most interesting environmental impact report, on what now appears like an imminent showdown in NYS over the drilling for natural gas beneath NY City's drinking water supply. The Gotham Gazette today had this to report:

10/09/09 - The Paterson administration is preparing to OK natural gas drilling near the city's upstate water reservoirs. A study by environmental consultants Hazen and Sawyer found that drilling near reservoirs can, "allow previously isolated contaminants to flow into shallow groundwater or surface water".
