He has turned down the rhetoric about the Muslim countries and has been making noises about more cooperation with the rest of the world. Both of those are big steps. In addition, he isn't as reliably pro-Israel. That goes a long way to smoothing feathers. "If stating that is joining the terrorists" It has been the touchstone of the right for almost a decade. Why doesn't it count any more?
