Neither are assumptions, Tim. But reality. Empty rhetoric, which is what Bush mainly engaged in, is never a good idea. As far as Ahmadinejad goes, well, he was behind in the polls until Smirk said that he would be unacceptable to the US. And, with that, he started to climb in the polls and eventually won. Ok, I suppose you could take the stance that was some massive coincidence, but...
