Mary, you seem to equate educated people with Obama supporters. If so, I think you're one of many snookered by an inbred circle of boobs that infests part of academia.

It's only been twenty years since Heilbroner, then a spokesman of the left, conceded their error. Now they're back, with a vengeance. Hard leaned lessons from the century past are already forgotten. Obama and crew gain power, and evils are resuscitated. The alternative offered was weak, but perhaps not as poisonous.

You cite Krugman, presumably impressed with his Nobel credential. He did legitimate analysis in trade patterns that changed since Ricardo's observations. To my knowledge he never put those changes in context; how they came about because of increases in efficiencies and capital. Have you read how he took early inspiration from a fictional character?

He blabs far outside his level of competence.

Education is important, but it's only one ingredient in the mix. The quality here seems to have been deteriorating for decades. For some centuries, economic freedom has been the prime determinate in levels of prosperity and civility. Lucid explanations why are available, but you seem to have not been exposed.
