Well, it is possible a nuclear weapon will be necessary to knock out Iran's nuclear facilities. If they're going to bury them that deep, that's the risk they take.
America IS declining, but not for the reason you and Krauthammer cite. We're declining from following right wing ideologies the last 30 years, starting with Reagan. That, combined with right wing contempt for education and intelligence in general, and we may not survive. Bush did an unintended Pearl Harbor on our economy by following wingnut ideology rather than common sense, and he may have done us in.
