All of these lobbies should have known better. The insurers have been especially foolish, given that ObamaCare has all along been about converting them into public utilities. They were afraid. A popular new president with majorities in Congress told them to be at the table or on the menu, and they came and sat down. But now they know they are on the menu anyway. At the same time, Obama is not looking as popular or tough as he did six months ago. So they are less afraid of the president and more afraid of the outcome. Thus the change.
