I'm not really a supporter of the child tax deduction, either, but I always say humans first. Social engineering. Dastardly socialist. i want my doggie tax deduction. Seriously... I've paid property taxes all my life to support the slobbering little brats education, while their parents enjoy a Federal tax break at my expense. My dog is better behaved than their kids and I have to keep my dog on a leash. They bring their wailing brats into restaurants and I can't bring in my well behaved (and cleaner) dog. Socialism... perverse incentives </some sarcasm but some truth>.
