Well if you'd shorted NZD by buying USD in the last year you wouldn't have done very well (I presume the asset purchases you mention were long before that). It is by no means clear the NZD is going to fall against USD any time soon. In my opinion you'd be much safer buying Canadian or Oz cash/assets. China's appetite for metals doesn't seem to be diminishing, which makes miners the best bet. Gold and silver are looking very strong, and miners give good leverage, much better than physical.
