And they could have, had they maintained and built upon a true commitment to servicing the customer.

This is a story about how Dell has ignored the customer, ignored the value of customer service, nickle and dimed the customer to add to gross corporate excesses like option perks, and outsourced every conceivable function to cheap foreign labor or other subcontractors.

Since Dell hasn't differentiated itself, it must compete solely on price with all the other discount box assemblers.
