I think that analysis is incorrect, at least insofar as the first part of that equation. The Tea Party set are making a lot of noise, but I don't think they're really breathing life into anything. They have no coherent agenda, apart from opposing everything the Democrats do. Come to think of it, they basically oppose everything most politicians do.

I don't see them as being particularly well organized or focused, and I don't see them as being a serious political force. They are a small, vocal minority who are out of touch with most of the country.

Thus, I agree that they are a disrupting force for the Republicans, but I don't think the energy they bring to the party is useful in any way.
