The intentional deception here is the original lie, it doesn't have to be intentional by everyone down the line.


If something is false and was at some point claimed by someone who knew it to be untrue, then it's a lie regardless of the belief of the person currently asserting it. If A tells B a lie and B repeats it believing it to be true, it's still a untrue and it's still a lie but B is not lying.
