"The future sure seemed better when there were less materials in the house and one of the parents was watching the children much closer."

I have always been an advocate of one parent staying home- and imo it ought to be mom, at least while the kids are of breastfeeding age (until dads can successfully breastfeed.)

So we agree on that. IMO a lot of what is wrong with America is wrong with it because parents aren't doing an adequate job. Now there may be real economic reasons why they can't be home to parent their children, but for those parents who are both working for extra toys, that's just a poor decision, and it affects all of us, because the kids aren't turning out as well.
