I expect that "lie" is mostly a generic word for "stuff those bastards pitch."

Could be, but to me words have meanings -- although, sometimes, I admit to interpreting the meanings incorrectly. But the use of the word "lie" to refer to a difference of opinion seems to be a question of usage, not a question of interpretation.

Overall, it is a little thing.

The right calls people "traitors," often willy-nilly.

Yes, I'm certainly right-leaning and have used the related term "treason" to refer to individuals whom I believed were Americans, yet seemed to side more with America's enemies than with America.

Remember when "bastard" was popular?

I still use this term daily, and you're exactly right -- I use it as a generic insult. My bad, I admit.

But sometimes, I just don't have the words to express my disgust.
