As long as we're being careful about words and meanings, that clearly looks to me like you were asserting that they believe that what they are calling "lies" are actually lies. Which is not the same thing as their using the word as a generic negative for something with which they disagree and/or disapprove. What I believe you were saying was that they were reacting to what they considered lies but you considered truthful or simply mistaken.
