There is some upside to this, at least getting caught this early limits the amount of further damage those parents can cause to those kids.

I'd say there's a good chance the kids will be removed from the home, at least temporarily.

Someone else here on SI mentioned that it was insane to make a plan that hinged on a six year old keeping his mouth shut.

That may have been Mulholland. Art Linkletter used to have a TV show in the early '60s, "Kids Say the Darnedest Things," or something similar. This is just an extension of that theme.

I commented when this was developing that it's sad when parents feel the need to use their kids as props in whatever drama the parents are involved in. I cringed when I saw the storm chasing videos, with the kids in the back seat. What parent in his or her right mind knowingly exposes a kid to danger like that? Now we know, a publicity hungry, self-centered parent.
