Wasn't it that generation who were told they were all winners? no. I realize that is some meme thing. but no we didn't hear that. and we had to earn grades mostly. but in my rich town, rich kids got passed thru, and on they went to top schools. creepy really. they had money... they didn't need to hear 'they were winners'. their parents were rich and they knew they could go to any top school and on to any top job. it was money. not any meme thing. bought and paid for. and they knew it.
